In an effort to update the functionality of their Science Institute site, Gatorade moved from flat HTML/PHP to a content management system, SiteFinity. In the process, requests for calendaring events, user-contributed articles as well as more robust education content complete with quizzes and immediate scoring were also added to the scope. The US site for the Gatorade Sports Science Institute is now the hub of communication between scientists that Gatorade had desired.

Curious to do something beyond just an “email” - he asked that Schadenfreude Media, LLC create a unique experience to celebrate the holidays. What resulted was a “Choose Your Own Adventure” done using Adobe Flash and video. This project led to exposure in Crain’s Chicago Business, The Chicago Tribune and several projects for both companies in 2007.

Portfolio sites are difficult. The challenge is balancing the visually interesting with the “average joe” CMS - to give the power of the site to the person the site is highlighting. The site for my own Company, Schadenfreude Media, LLC, has gone through several incarnations over the last 10 years. The company began as a theatre company, and has moved to where it is now, a creative warehouse available for hire by advertising agencies, corporate event managers and production studios. Starting out as a “poster site” - advertising stage shows, the site has grown with the company. With partners scattered around the country, the decision was made to move to a “blog” - allowing the comedic writings, observations and multimedia endeavors of the company to be easily showcased.
